RUNSWICK COUNTY -- On Monday, agents with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit seized a large amount of marijuana from the Spring Hill Community of Leland. Agents served the search warrant as part of a six month investigation that led investigators to believe that large amounts of marijuana were being stored and processed in a house on Jermonts Lane in Leland.
The search of the house located over 150 pounds of prepackaged marijuana along with $2,820 in cash, two handguns, pieces and magazines to assault style weapons and related drug paraphernalia.
The estimated street value of the marijuana seized from the residence is approximately $150,000.
Michael D. Bernard has been arrested for felony drug violations and is currently being held on a $30,000 secured bond.
The other suspects in the operation, Bradley Maurice Jamal James and Zedric Dshaunn James, have not yet been arrested.
Both Bradley and Zedric James have outstanding warrants and are wanted at this time for drug violations stemming from the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
